FUKOKU provides products to various customers all over the world. It is the mission of the FUKOKU Production Engineering Division to build plants that are competitive on a global level, in order to provide products that can satisfy customers all throughout the world. Engineers in this division are responsible for a wide range of duties, including launching new production lines, and designing dies and production equipment. They are also responsible for setting new products production line start up, including mold and machine design, system design that introduce the latest technologies, production line rationalization and defects ratio reduction. Doing this requires learning many things, and manufacturing provides opportunities to become involved with a wide range of people.
Technology and people continue to evolve day-by-day, and this in turn brings manufacturing forward. This is the goal of FUKOKU production engineering.

The appeal of production engineering work

Production Engineering Division duties are assigned to younger employees. They first work with senior employees in pairs as they undergo OJT. However, they generally work on their own as they interact with related parties inside and outside the company. No matter how well we prepare, a line may not operate as intended or something else could go wrong. Although these types of problems can be frustrating, it is ultimately very exciting to see our new production line operating stably. What is most appealing about this kind of work is seeing the production line you designed take shape and produce products from materials, which are ultimately released to the market.

In order to develop engineers who can actively work on a global stage, we have a two-year long young employee training program we call the “Overseas Trainee Scheme.” Many young engineers in the Production Engineering Division make use of this program to work at offices overseas. These engineers are sent to local factories as production engineering managers, where they apply their engineering experience at work while developing local staff. Working closely with local staff allows these employees to experience local values and cultures, resulting in a wider perspective. Their experiences working with local staff on solving difficult local issues helps to build self confidence and can help to enhance their careers in major ways.

Gain experience working overseas in your 20s!

S.K, production engineering

FUKOKU has a young engineer training program called the “Overseas Trainee Scheme.” I was selected for this program four years into my career here, and spent two years working at a production site factory in Vietnam. As the production engineering manager in Vietnam, I trained local staff on the types of work I had done in Japan as a production engineering engineer, and was also able to gain experience managing the staff there. I truly value the opportunity I was given to take a management position for those two years, even though I was only in my 20s. If you love trying new things, you should definitely consider a career at FUKOKU!
